Sailing into 2018

The sun is setting on our cruise through 2017 and we are now about to set our course and navigate into 2018.
I have such hope for this New Year. I have always loved the concept of a clean slate, fresh start, a second chance.

For some of us, its more than a second chance, it’s a fourth or seventeenth chance. What are we doing wrong?

Maybe it’s time to check your navigational equipment. How are you piloting your ship, Captain? Where are you going? How long is it going to take to get there? What is your guidance system? Are you sure you are on the correct course?

A new year gives you a chance to visit these questions. Check your charts and do a course correction.
I was looking at a list of maritime disasters of the 20th Century and I was astonished first at how many disasters there were.
The second thing that jumped out at me was that there were specific causes of disasters that repeated over and over throughout the list.

“overloaded passenger ferry: carrying more passengers than its capacity limit: overloaded ferry sank: ship was packed to nearly twice it capacity”

Hmmm…. So, it seems a major cause of disaster can be attributed to being overloaded?

What is overloading your life?

It could be as simple as a messy house, overloaded closets, everything you pull out of that mess is wrinkled. Clean it up! You know your obviously not wearing that stuff!

Is your desk a pile a papers that you keep shuffling from side to side? Important things laying forgotten under piles of junk? Clean it up! Organize it, its amazing how much better you will feel if you just tackle this task to completion.

Today, take the time to think about what is overloading your life. From a simple messy closet to messy finances… Start with the easy stuff and keep moving forward. From a closet to a desk to the checkbook to a relationship that needs work. You can course correct anything in your life that is not on track. This puts you on course towards the life you want to be living.

I’m doing it too, so drop me a line or leave a comment. Let’s make 2018 the best year ever, together!
