In Round 1 of my Because you did not know series, we discovered how a child support evader made a payment of 0.05 cents on an arrears balance of over $17k and the Florida DOR refused to suspend his drivers license “because he was trying”.
In Round 2, we followed “Alice”, as her marriage went down the rabbit hole called “Family Court” and experienced the extreme legal and financial abuse inflicted on her and her children by the “mad hatter”.
Now in Round 3, we are going to take that legal abuse a step farther by talking to “Cindy” and see what happens when the castle turns into a jail cell and how far and damaging legal abuse can go.
Cindy’s tale starts like most, a whirlwind romance with the gorgeous Prince Charming. Six weeks after their first date he rented an apartment without telling her, got her to move in and proposed marriage. Charming told Cindy he wanted to start a family and she would stay home and raise their children.
Cindy was swept along in the romance of it all and never saw the crazy lurking…
On the night of their wedding Charming started a fight with Cindy, made her leave the reception and go back to the apartment. There he forced her to have sex, declaring, “Now you belong to me.” After this he took her back to the wedding reception and acted like nothing had happened.
Charming had two successful stores dealing in knives, swords and other weapons and collectables. After he and Cindy were married he started selling these wares online, closing his stores and working from home. He kept all the inventory at home behind the locked doors of his office. Cindy was not allowed in these rooms and did not have keys to the locked doors. When she became pregnant he simply dropped her off at the hospital. In three years Cindy had two sons and was at the hospital alone with a sick child and he took the phone off the hook. When Cindy came home with the baby, he got angry she left the juice on the counter after fixing a bottle and hit her for the first time. Physical abuse became the norm and Charming had now become Crazy.
Throughout the marriage Cindy was not allowed access to the office, or the family finances. She was given one credit card for medical needs and another for grocery’s and household expenses. Her spending was meticulously monitored as was her computer and phone usage. He put a GPS tracker on her car. If Cindy went out or tried to work, he would leave the kids home alone and show up where she was. Working to earn her own money to escape was not possible.
Cindy lost two more pregnancy’s in her 4th and 5th months.
Crazy had now begun using steroids, drinking and snorting cocaine. The adultery was constant, including an affair with her former best friend. They had moved into a beautiful castle they built as his businesses were extremely successful. By now Cindy was not fooled, her castle was a jail cell. Crazy even put locks on the door, so he could lock her in with the kids.
Then it got even worse…
In 2011, Crazy raped and strangled Cindy. Her son crying for her is what Cindy believes saved her life that day. Four weeks later Mother’s Day, he raped her again and with his increasing violence Cindy called the police in fear for her life.
Crazy was arrested that day and Cindy filed for a restraining order. From his jail cell Crazy called Child Protective Services and filed a complaint stating Cindy was using drugs and having sex with a boyfriend in front of the children.
Cindy filed for divorce.
Crazy responded by hacking her FB account and posting half nude pictures of Cindy along with sensitive medical information about their sons, both of whom had now been diagnosed with autism spectrum disorders, and other health issues. He hacked other online accounts and eventually was arrested for violating the restraining order.
2 months later he pleaded no contest to 5 felonies and was found guilty of Domestic Violence Assault and a misdemeanor batter and violating the restraining order. He was placed on probation for 2 years. He was court ordered into therapy, abstain from alcohol and all drugs and pay child support and have only supervised visitation. Even though he was not to be in possession of weapons, he was not restricted from running his weapons business.
He handed over to Cindy a check in the amount of $14k and she was court ordered to deposit this check and use it for expenses. After Cindy followed the court orders Crazy had her charged with felony check fraud, stating she had “stolen the check from him.” The bank shut down Cindy’s account and bounced every check she had written for bills. Cindy’s divorce attorney refused to help her clear this up even though she had been court ordered by the judge to take the check from Crazy and use it. It took a new attorney and intervention by a state legislator to clear the charges against Cindy over the course of a year.
Crazy was so angry she did not get prosecuted for felony check fraud he went to another court district and refiled the stolen check charges with a new judge.
In 2013 Cindy’s new attorney had a two-day trial to get another year on the restraining order. The judge heard all the evidence and in a shocking turn of events granted a LIFETIME RESTRAINING ORDER citing: Crazy’s documented physical and sexual abuse of Cindy, repeated violations of the temporary restraining order, his threats to “get her”, intimidation, “willingness to lie under oath undermining his credibility”, stealing the family pet and having it euthanized to traumatize Cindy and the boys, cancelling health insurance so the boys went without needed medical care… The judge even cited the legal abuse issues, stating, “while a litigant may file many motions the defendant did so solely to harass the plaintiff.” The Judge also noted that Crazy’s probation was about to end and without the threat of jail, his abuse was likely to start again.
Crazy’s probation did end in 2013, and that is when he stopped paying the mortgage and child support. As the Judge predicted once the threat of immediate jail time for violating probation was removed, he no longer followed court orders.
He refused to show up for the divorce pretrial hearing and after several reschedules where he also no-showed, the judge went ahead and granted the divorce without him.
After the divorce was granted Crazy contested the ruling, stating that Cindy did not want the divorce and did not know what she was doing. The judge dismissed his motions and Crazy married the girlfriend he had been seeing during the entire pendency of the divorce.
Again, since 2013 and Crazy’s probation ending Cindy has not received her court ordered child support or any of the moneys awarded to her in the divorce. He has violated the restraining multiple times by contacting Cindy to demand she remove the restraining order, “then I will pay my child support”, he stated in one phone call. He has hacked into the school’s email system to contact their sons. A bench warrant for violating the restraining order remains outstanding in Cindy’s home state of Massachusetts.
No worries there for Crazy as he relocated to Las Vegas.
He continues to run his business’s online and has a storefront on the Vegas strip selling his weapons and earning over six to seven figures a year…
In the meantime, Cindy has continued to struggle. She has multiple health issues stemming from the physical abuse she endured, and she and her boys suffer from PTSD as well.
Right now, Cindy’s home has been auctioned off in foreclosure and she is waiting on a section 8 housing voucher.
Crazy owes $534,375.12 in child support and mortgage payments he refused to make. Cindy has gone to her Congressman, her Governor, and multiple State Attorney’s begging for help for her and her boys…
No one will do anything to enforce or prosecute the felony nonsupport of dependents Crazy is willingly committing.
Her boys are on Medicaid at taxpayer’s expense for the many medical issues while their father makes a comfortable six to seven figures a year.
If the section 8 voucher does not come through before she must vacate her home, she and her boys will be homeless.
He dines in 5-star Vegas eateries while his sons make do on Ramen noodles.
Where is the justice for Cindy and her sons?
Why are the state attorney’s telling Cindy that “she will never get her money and needs to come up with a new plan.”
Why do we have laws in place to protect women and children that are not being enforced?
Why can’t Massachusetts and Nevada collect child support from a man with two online business’s and a store front on the Vegas strip?
How is it possible that he sent Cindy $32 for “child support” while owing over half a million dollars and this is allowed?
This is the 0.05 cent payment on $17k in arrears with larger numbers… $32 dollars when you are hungry and about to be homeless is a slap in the face to these kids and to justice.
As a taxpayer are you okay with supporting the children of a millionaire simply because he does not want to?
Let’s look at the bigger picture here. Charming turned into Crazy after marriage, he was abusive in every way: mental, physical, sexual, and financial. He was emotionally and physically abusive to the children. He used the courts to terrorize Cindy during the years of divorce proceedings, keeping her in court at least 50 times over 2 years.
His physical, sexual and even the legal abuse was stopped by the courts, why won’t they stop his financial abuse?
Because that is the big picture behind unpaid child support. Ruining someone financially is easy to do and goes unpunished. Financial abuse is the last way some abusers have to get at you. And it is not only allowed, it seems to be sanctioned.
If Crazy owed $534,374.12 to the IRS do you think they would not be seizing bank accounts and property? If he owed a tenth of that amount to a credit card his phone would ring off the hook, he would be hounded day and night for a payment. If he did not pay for his car it would be repossessed. If he does not pay the mortgage his home would be auctioned off right out from under him as Cindy is experiencing.
But because the debt is owed to his ex-spouse and children it is ignored.
Abused women don’t matter and children are collateral damage. This is the message and we hear it loud and clear…
The abuse of Cindy and her sons has not ended, it has morphed into a different kind of abuse. No breaks, no bruises means no problem?
Not so.
Why should this matter to you?
Well as a decent human being state sponsored terrorism of innocent children should not sit well with you. As a taxpayer you are supporting the children of a wealthy man simply because he does not want to and its a sure way to continue his abuse.
If this notion does not offend your sense of decency, lets talk about your pocket book.
Are you okay with providing housing, food stamps and medical care to the children of a millionaire?
Financial abuse IS ABUSE and YOU are paying for it!
We have over 11 million child support cases in America today. These cases are owed over $116 BILLION dollars in arrears!
The Federal Office of Child Support Enforcement shows that 55% of those arrears are owed by only 15% of obligors, this 15% owes over 40K in arrears. Obligors like Crazy represent only 3% of the total, but 22% of the 116 Billion. These are the deliberate offenders—the “WONT PAY” vs the “can’t pay” crowd. These are the offenders that need to feel the wrath and punishment of the 1998 Deadbeat Parents Punishment Act.
Right now, we live in a nation of “Trickle Down Abuse- Economics”. Unpaid child support is the final area of abuse left wide open by our refusal to enforce the law. Crazy can no longer hit Cindy, but he can sure starve her out.
Cindy freed herself and her children from the castle dungeon for what? A lifetime of poverty deliberately caused by her abuser and the system that won’t fight for her kids despite laws in place to prevent this. Her kids will be supported by taxpayers rather than the father who is morally, ethically and LEGALLY responsible for their support! This is the revenge of Crazy. Poverty for them and no punishment for him…
Are you okay with this?
How many extra kids can you take in? It’s on YOU Taxpayer. Time to pony up!
Or you could just contact your state representatives and demand that court ordered child support be enforced as the law demands. Let them know that “Trickle Down Abuse-Economics” is not acceptable to you and your pocketbook. It has been estimated that deadbeat abusers cost American taxpayers up to 53 Billion dollars yearly in costs for benefits given to families whose children would not have needed or qualified for public assistance if court ordered child support was being paid. Currently the OCSE reports that 20% of the 116 Billion dollars in arrears is owed directly back to the Federal Government. That is over 23 Billion dollars…
I asked Cindy, “what now? What do you want to see happen?”
Cindy sadly and angrily stated, “I want him held accountable! And I want the system held accountable. The repeated brush off by officials is more abuse. I should not have to defend a Judge’s order for the amount of child support owed to my kids. They have special needs and extreme health care costs. Its not like he can’t pay it! The Judge did not come up with the child support figure out of thin air! The state has no problem fining ME if I go one dollar over my food stamps, but they let him get out of taking care of his children? How do they justify this?”
If you have an answer for Cindy on this issue, please respond in the comments…

Time for the public to wake up and take back the government and our courts, before it is too late.
I could not agree more. Thank you.
