Not about a Bunny

I am fortunate enough to have old friends. And I mean OLD friends. One of my favorites is 97 years old.

She is a complete delight, a repository of life’s wisdom having lived through a real depression, two world wars, loss of most of her family including two husbands and a beloved daughter. She grew up washing clothes by hand and now operates a smart phone with ease and great amusement.

One day as I was marveling to myself about everything this dear one has LIVED through and thinking about the fact that I have now passed the half century mark myself, I asked her, “Ms. M, what is the most important thing I need to know right now to live the rest of my life?”

Ms. M looked at me and said, “hmmm…” She cocked her head to one side and continued, “Young lady, get off your hind end! Do not let a recliner suck you in! Get up! Keep moving and keep your mind set on good thoughts.”

I don’t have a very good poker face and I must have looked shocked at her comment, so she continued, “I mean that. Don’t sit! Keep moving and think of good things always.”

Friday, I stopped by to deliver an Easter Lily. Ms. M loves plants and flowers and if there is one thing she does regret it’s her inability to get to church services as often as she would like. Age can have some limitations, even for Ms. M.

Ms. M was delighted and gave me one of her huge hugs. “You are such a sweet girl!” she said. I just LOVE being called a sweet GIRL.

Then she said, “Honey I hope the Easter Bunny brings you something nice!”

It was my turn to impart some wisdom for a change.

“Ms. M, that has been taken care of for me. Cause it’s not about a bunny, it’s about The Lamb.”

Ms. M smiled, her blue eyes searched mine and she nodded.

“your exactly right, thank you for saying it!”

It is Finished… Have a blessed Easter Sunday.
