Part Five of Because you did Not Know.

I have brought you Cindy’s story in increments, detailing her whirlwind courtship that lead to a marriage of 2 decades filled with abuse of every kind, physical, sexual, financial, legal.  I detailed her escape and the subsequent financial abuse heaped on her and her boys, not only by her ex-spouse but by a system that is broken, possibly beyond repair. http://alanakhaase.com/society/because-you-did-not-know-part-3-cindys-castle-was-a-jail-cell/

Now that Cindy is stuck in Section 8 housing, she made an appointment to see her State Representative, Congressman Jim McGovern. http://alanakhaase.com/society/update-on-cindy-part-3-of-because-you-did-not-know/

Congressman’s McGovern’s website states 62,615 letters, phone calls and emails answered!

2340 Constituents helped!

Cindy allowed herself to feel hopeful when the appointment was set for her to meet the Congressman. But an aid requested she send in an email detailing what she wished to discuss with the Congressman.

So, Cindy followed the instructions and emailed in this letter that was received 3-4 days prior to her set appointment.

Here is what she sent into the congressional aid:

Congressman McGovern,

I am here today to request your help with the Federal Office of Child Support Enforcement, The Justice Department, the Mass. DOR and your Congressional colleges who represent Nevada and can contact the Nevada Department of Health and Human Services for interstate assistance.

Your Washington office should have the Preliminary Report to Congress, published 06/13/2019 by the OCSE. This document will inform you that arrears have increased over $702 million dollars since the last report to a completely unacceptable $118,058,611,558.00 Billion dollars.

Massachusetts contributes to this problem:

$2,193,599.521.00 Billion dollars owed to 200,996 children.

We have 161,544 cases owing arrears in child support but only 96,221 cases paying towards arrears.

I was divorced in 2013 and due to my ex-spouses’ refusal to abide by court orders I am now living in Section 8 housing with my two special needs boys. We are also receiving Medicaid as are 73% of children on the IV-D rolls.

I have appealed to the DOR, State’s Attorney’s Office and former State Representative Ellen Story tried to help me without success.

My children and I are now owed over $650,000.

My ex-spouse is in violation of:

1. Court Orders

2. Mass. General Statute Ch. 273.1

3. Mass. General Statue ch 273.15A

4. Nevada Rev Stat. 193.130 as his arrears are felony level at greater than $10,000.

5.1998 Federal Parent Deadbeat Punishment Act (DPPA) — he willfully relocated to Nevada to evade Mass. Court orders and I was informed just last Wednesday that Nevada closed the interstate case based on my ex-spouse telling them that he has relocated back to Massachusetts and is residing with me.

I cannot believe that Nevada allowed this miscarriage of justice without PROOF- I have a lifetime restraining order against him due to the severity of domestic violence and his aberrant behavior during the pendency of our divorce, he has open warrants in our state and the address he gave is our former marital residence that has long been foreclosed on.  I am remarried to a disabled United States Veteran.

Congressman, this man is not hiding to evade the law. He is living well in Las Vegas, has a very successful business on the Vegas Strip and is blatantly abusing a broken system to his benefit.

Again, Sir, I am asking for your help to rectify this situation so my sons and I can live, and live unsupported by the taxpayers of Massachusetts.

I need you to contact the Justice Department for federal prosecution of this case and the DOR and Nevada to enforce these orders.

Thank you,

“Cindy”

The day after the aid received this letter and saw “I need your help with child support” Cindy’s phone rang, and she was informed her appointment to see the congressman was canceled…. “we can’t help you; this is a legal issue; we don’t deal with issues like this…”

A sitting Congressman who has been involved with politics for over 40 years “can’t help” and does not “deal” with issues involving Federal and State level agencies that have dropped the ball on one his own constituents?

A congressman’s whose web site states that one of his passions is ending hunger at home and abroad and his “top priority” is his constituents back home?

I’m not buying it.

Like many a deadbeat parent, he is a “won’t help” vs a “can’t help”.

And with our national arrears now at an appalling $118 Billion dollars we don’t need any more “won’t help” politicians living the good life in Washington while children go hungry back home.

If you are a Massachusetts resident this should absolutely enrage you. Your tax dollars are supporting a woman and two children who are legally owed over half a million dollars, but no one is willing to enforce the law. You, the taxpayers are supporting them with housing, food and medical care…

Re-read Cindy’s letter, she stated nothing but easily verifiable facts and asked for help in getting the DOJ involved.

If this is to hard for your congressman to handle, you residents of Massachusetts need to head to the polls…

Cindy responded to her appointment being canceled with a follow up letter. I won’t share the entirety of it but just this excerpt:

“I am greatly disappointed in your refusal to even meet with me and discuss this matter. The Federal Office of Child Support Enforcement reports to Congress and you, sir, are a congressman. If you refuse to help a woman being abused by the system, you are no better than other members of the government you claim to have issues with.”

I would like to encourage all readers to direct your concerns about this case, the misuse of your tax dollars to Congressman McGovern’s office, and your local newspapers and come election time; the polls.
